Balangan is the Bukit beach that asks least of you: drive nearly to the sand, walk a short stair, and a kilometre of gold opens up under palm-thatch warungs — with one of Bali's most photographed cliff viewpoints hanging over the south end.
The beach and the viewpoint
Balangan runs long and honey-coloured below low cliffs, strung with simple warungs renting loungers and grilling fish. The southern cliff viewpoint — the one from every drone reel — is a two-minute climb and free; go at golden hour when the wave lines stack in backlight. Low tide reveals reef pools; high tide narrows the sand, so time beach days accordingly.
The wave
Balangan's left is fast, long-walled and friendlier than Bingin — intermediates on a mid tide get some of their best Bali waves here, while bigger swells turn it into a proper wall for the experienced. Crowds are moderate by Bukit standards; mornings are cleanest.
Warung life
This is the Bukit's best beach for doing nothing at length: beanbags, young coconuts, banana pancakes, grilled fish at sunset — all at village prices. Bring cash; card machines and Balangan haven't fully met.
