What August feels like
August is statistically Bali's driest month — day after cloudless day, cool nights, offshore mornings. It's also the busiest, sharing July's crowds and adding European summer holidays at full strength. The playbook is the same: base on the quiet coast, do the famous sights early in the morning, and let the villa absorb the afternoons.
What's on
Indonesian Independence Day (August 17) fills villages with flag-raising ceremonies, games and parades — a genuinely joyful day to be around a real village like Seseh or Cemagi. Book anything special (chef nights, day trips, big-table dinners) several days ahead all month.
Surf in August
Swell stays pumping; winds are the year's most reliably offshore in the mornings. Every famous wave works; every famous line-up is full by 7am. The uncrowded call: dawn at Seseh or Munggu, where the same swell arrives without the audience.

Come in August for guaranteed sunshine and festival energy — with bookings made early. Skip it if price sensitivity or crowd aversion outweigh weather certainty; September waits right behind it.
