September might be the smartest month on the Bali calendar: August's weather with the crowds draining away week by week. The first days still feel like peak; by mid-month restaurants take walk-ins again, beaches breathe, and villa rates begin their slide toward shoulder pricing while the sky stays dry.
What's on
A quiet month for national holidays — which is the appeal. The ceremony calendar rolls on, and with clearer roads, September is the best month for the big day-trips: Uluwatu's temple at sunset, Ubud's valleys, the Jatiluwih rice terraces, all without July's convoy.
Surf in September
Swell remains solid and consistent — many surfers rate September the best all-round month: real waves, warming water, and line-ups that thin daily. Beach breaks at Seseh and Munggu stay in dry-season form all month.
