Where to Stay in Uluwatu

Padang Padang, Bingin, Melasti or the temple cliffs — the Bukit's micro-areas compared for real trips.

Area Guide · Updated July 2026 · by Casa Living Bali

'Uluwatu' on a booking map covers the whole Bukit peninsula — twenty minutes of winding road between its corners. Where you base decides your daily friction, so choose the micro-area first and the property second.

Padang Padang & Labuan Sait: the beach-life axis

The strip connecting Padang Padang, Thomas Beach and Suluban is the Bukit's main street — walkable warungs, surf shops, sunset bars and two of its best beaches. Base here for beach-first trips: you'll drive less than anywhere else on the peninsula. Villas beat hotels on this axis; Casa Padang Padang Villa Mochi Casa Seashell · Coming Soon sits steps from the Padang stairs. The beach itself →

Bingin: romance on the cliff

Bingin's stacked cliff stays are the Bukit's most atmospheric address — sunset warungs and a world-class left below your balcony. Trade-offs: stair life, rustic rooms, few pools, luggage by porter. Perfect for couples travelling light; families and comfort-seekers should sleep nearby and visit. Bingin guide →

Temple cliffs & Pecatu: resort country

The southwest rim near Uluwatu temple holds the marquee cliff resorts and villa estates — maximum drama, maximum polish, and a drive to every beach. Best for honeymoons that live at the resort, golf-and-spa trips, and anyone prioritising sunset from a lounger over sand between toes. Hotel vs villa here →

Melasti & Ungasan: the quiet south

The south coast pairs the Bukit's best swimming beach with newer villa developments and lighter traffic. It's furthest from the surf strip, closest to Nusa Dua's calm. Families anchored to swimmable water should look here — everyone else visits Melasti and sleeps nearer the action. Melasti guide →

Verdict for most trips: the Padang Padang axis — most beach per day, least scooter per beach. Casa Padang Padang →
